ELAFIINI, PI3 peptidaasi (20q13.12) (AMP peptideitä)

Yhteenveto  tiedoista:   Tämä geeni koodaa elastaasi-spesifistä inhibiitoria (ESI) , joka toimii  antimikrobiaalisena peptidinä (AMP)  Gram-positiivisia ja Gram-negatiivisia bakteereita  ja sienipatogeeneja kohtaan. proteiinissa on WAP-tyyppinen neljän disulfidin ydindomeeni (WFDC), joten se on WFDC-domeeniperhettä.  Useimmat WFDC- geenijäsenet sijoittuvat kromosomiin 20q12-q13  kahtena ryväksenä:  niitä on  sentromeerinen ja telomeerinen klusteri.  Tämä geeni säätyy ylös bakteeriperäisestä LPS.stä ja sytokiineistä.

 Summary: This gene encodes an elastase-specific inhibitor that
            functions as an antimicrobial peptide against Gram-positive and
            Gram-negative bacteria, and fungal pathogens. The protein contains
            a WAP-type four-disulfide core (WFDC) domain, and is thus a member
            of the WFDC domain family. Most WFDC gene members are localized to
            chromosome 20q12-q13 in two clusters: centromeric and telomeric.
            This gene belongs to the centromeric cluster. Expression of this
            gene is upgulated by bacterial lipopolysaccharides and cytokines.

Ref.4. (2017) Pre-elafiini osallistuu UV-säteilyn indusoimaan keratinosyytin apoptoosiin prokaspaasi-3:n aktivaatiolla  säätämällä alas kystatiini-A:n.  (GeneRIF)
UV-säteilyn fototoksinen vaikutus  indusoi keratinosyyteissä pre-elafiinia ennen kuin sarveiskerros muodostuu. Tämä muodostunut pre-elafiini saattaa osallistua keratinosyyttein apoptoosiin  UV-säteilyn vaikutuksesta. Vaikutustienä on kystatiini-A:n alassäätyminen ja siitä aktivoituva kaspaasi-3.
