Tryptamiinit kuten serotoniini ja melatoniini

Tryptofaani-aminohapon biogeeninen amini on tryptamiini, jalomuodot ovat serotoniini ja melatoniini, moilla on omat biologiset reséptorinsa kehojärjestelmässä serotonergisessä neuronijsystemissä.
Serotoniinireseptorit eli 5-HT-reseptorit luokitellaan näin Wikipediassa:
